Peoria, AZ Real Estate

Peoria, Arizona has become one of the most desirable places to live in the state of Arizona. Located in the Sonoran Desert Peoria is a thriving city. With approximately 325 days of sunshine per year it is one of the sunniest places in the country.

The geography of Peoria, AZ is rugged with mountain ranges surrounding it. To the north there is the West Wings Mountain Preserve, to the east there is the East Wing Mountain Preserve and in the center of Peoria there is the Sunrise Mountain Preserve. All of these preserves have hiking trails that take you right to the top where you the views are outstanding!

In addition to the mountains there is Lake Pleasant, a man made reservoir and the largest lake in the Phoenix area. This regional park is open all year round and offers boating, fishing, picnic areas, scenic overlooks, hiking trails, RV resort and camping areas. The park covers a total of over 23,000 acres of desert and is especially popular with residents. 

There are two marinas at Lake Pleasant: on the east side of the lake there is the Pleasant Harbor Marina and on the west side there is Scorpion Bay Marina. Both have full-service marina facilities.

The Challenger Space Center of Arizona, affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute, is a resource center that is best known for it’s simulated flight missions, an indoor planetarium, lectures and space camps.

Peoria Center for the Performing Arts

The Peoria Center for the Performing Arts is a 280 seat auditorium that partners with Theater Works, which operates the facility, and brings in award winning theater, hosts kids programs and summer camps and special events throughout the year.

Rio Vista Community Park

Located just north of the downtown Peoria, AZ area, between the Loop 101 and the New River, is Rio Vista Community Park and the Rio Vista Recreation Center which is one of the largest municipal recreation destinations in the Greater Phoenix area. Here you will find indoor fitness center, a gymnasium, a climbing wall, workshops, camps and special events. Outside there is a playground, sports fields, a splash pad and a skate park.

Peoria Sports Complex

The Peoria Sports Complex is the spring training home of the Cactus League for both the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. The complex consists of the main stadium and 12 practice fields. As a result, Peoria has become a popular spring time destination for baseball fans.
